Pac12 Power Rankings After Week 10

  1. SDSU (#2 last week)

SDSU sits at number 1 in this week's power rankings after beating Wyoming 24-7. SDSU continues to give itself a real chance to make the College Football Playoffs if they can win out. SDSU has what some may consider a trap game against Hawaii this week before a really big game against Boise State on November 15th. 


  1. Fresno State (#4 last week)

Fresno State jumps all the way up to the number two spot in this week's power rankings after beating Boise State last week. Not only did Fresno State beat Boise State they walked into Boise and dominated the Broncos. Fresno State will get a well deserved bye week before facing off against Wyoming on November 15th. 

  1. Boise State (#1 last week)

Boise State slides all the way to the three spot after an embarrassing loss to Fresno State at home. Boise State still has a shot to win a Mountain West title but the loss to Fresno State has to be eye opening for Boise State. It is no secret that Boise State has not had the same success that they enjoyed last year and it will be interesting to see if they can get back on track with a big game against SDSU on November 15th. 


  1. WSU (#3 last week)

WSU falls to the number 4 spot in this week's power rankings after a terrible offensive performance on Saturday against Oregon State. The Cougs managed to score just 7 points against an Oregon State team that had just 1 win on the year going into the game. WSU gets a much needed bye week where they can hopefully regain some health, especially along the Oline before a home game against Louisiana Tech on November 15th.


  1. Utah State 

Utah State retains the number 5 spot this week coming out of their bye week. Coming off of the rough loss to New Mexico before the bye week, Utah State has a good chance to get back on track with a home game against a pretty bad Nevada team on Saturday. Utah State is just 2 wins away from a bowl game and with the remaining games against UNLV, Fresno State and Boise State this one feels like a must win for the bowl game hopes. 


  1. Texas State 

Texas State is coming off of a bye week of sorts after losing to JMU on Tuesday October 28th. After the promising start to the season Texas State has a good opportunity to pick up a win with a game against Louisiana on Saturday.  Texas State need 3 wins in their last 4 games, making this game essentially a must win game. 


  1. Oregon State (#8 last week)

Oregon State finally crawls out of the bottom spot after beating WSU 10-7 on Saturday. All of the sudden the Beavs have won two games in a row after firing Trent Bray. Oregon State has a real chance to continue the good vibes and momentum with a home game against Sam Houston this weekend. With a win this week Oregon State would also give itself a real chance to pass Texas State in next week's power rankings. 


  1. Colorado State (#7 last week)

Colorado State fell to the bottom of the rankings for the first time this season. Colorado State’s spot at the bottom of this list is well deserved as their only win of the season was a 4 point win over FCS opponent Northern Colorado. The silver lining for Colorado State is that they will have a new head coach next season and the program should look a lot different.

    Colorado State also beat Fresno State. The win over N. Colorado wasn’t their only win this season.

With the spring transfer portal opening two days ago on April 16th the Cougs have already had 19 players enter the transfer portal. This list should be current up to April 18th at around 4pm.  Djouvensky Schlenbaker  Was a highly touted high school recruit. Appeared in 11 games last season and had 149 yards and three touchdowns. Acted as a great lead blocker for John Mateer. Found himself in a very crowded backfield this spring and probably was not going to see the field a ton this season.  Warren Smith  Appeared in 9 games last season as a backup. Came to Pullman as a highly touted cornerback with offers from 6 Pac12 schools. Another case of being in a very talented potion group and it was likely he wouldn't see the field a ton next season.  Hunter Najam  Redshirted at WSU last season as a preferred walk-on. Pac12 Power Rankings After Week 1

Week 1 of college football is in the books and wow was it an interesting week for future Pac12 schools. In all transparency this week's rankings will be pretty reactionary based on what we saw in week 1. The teams I had in my top 3 heading into the season (BSU, OSU and WSU) did not look great in week 1 leaving room for some teams to jump ahead of them.  Texas State (#7 last week)  Texas State had the most impressive win of week 1 for any Pac12 school. They destroyed Eastern Michigan by a score of 52-27. While the offense looked unstoppable, definitely some room for improvement on the defensive side of the ball. Texas State has a huge rivalry game against rival UTSA this week but with a win over UTSA Texas should be on its way to at least an 8+ win season.  Boise State (#1 last week)  Boise State only drops one spot after a tough defeat against USF. Takeaways from WSU Football's Crimson & Gray Showcase: Standouts, Surprises and Spring Game Insights

WSU Football wrapped up its last spring practice today with a slightly different version of the spring game instead calling it the Crimson & Gray Showcase. The 90 minute event had some position drills, a 1 on 1 session, 7 on 7 session and a scrimmage. The scrimmage included two 25 minute periods with the clock running the entire time. The defense and offense were split into two teams and the defense started with a 14-0 lead.  The two touchdown scorers during the scrimmage were redshirt senior receiver Leon Neal Jr. and redshirt sophomore TE Ben Dutton. Leon got open on a nicely lofted 7 yard pass from Zevi Eckhaus and Dutton scored his touchdown after finding himself wide open in the endzone and Jaxon Potter zipped a 10 yard pass to him.  Defensive Standouts  One of the biggest standouts of the defensive end was redshirt freshman DE Ben Beatty. Meet the 16 SDSU to WSU Transfers WSU Football had 16 players follow Jimmy Rogers and staff from South Dakota State to Pullman. A lot of these players will be big contributors for the Cougs this season and in the coming seasons as well. Kirby Vorhees (RB) Vorhees comes to WSU as a redshirt sophomore after spending the last two years at SDSU. Vorhees is an extremely talented back who provided a great one-two punch with Angel Johnson at SDSU. Vorhees had 75 carries last season and averaged 7.7 yards per carry. He also added 8 rushing touchdowns to his impressive freshman season. Vorhees should compete for the RB2 role this season and looks to build off a very strong redshirt freshman campaign. Tucker Large (S) Tucker Large is another high-level addition to the WSU roster. Large was a big part of the 2023 SDSU team that won an FCS national championship. Pac12 Power Rankings After Week 6

This was not a good week for the Pac12 as far as results on the field. The Pac12 won just 2 games and one of those was a Pac12 vs Pac12 matchup. The silver lining is that Fresno State and SDSU both look really good and they look like they could be far ahead of schedule on their rebuilds. Fresno State and SDSU being good football schools in the new Pac12 is very important for the league so it has been good to see both schools with strong starts to the season.  Fresno State (#3 last week)  For the first time in a long time we have a new team in the number 1 spot! At one point early in the season I had Fresno State at number 8, wow really shows what I know! Other than the loss to Kansas earlier in the year Fresno State has looked very good. Pac12 Power Rankings After Week 9

For the first time this season, not a single team changed spots on this week's rankings. The top 3 schools, Boise State, SDSU and WSU have really begun to separate themselves as the class of the Pac12 this year. SDSU and Boise State both still have real chances to make the College Football Playoff, with their game against each other serving as a type of elimination game.  Boise State (#1 last week) Boise State stays in the number 1 spot after beating Nevada 24-3 on Friday night. While Boise State fans may have liked to see a more complete performance from the team, you can never complain about a conference road win. Boise State gets Fresno State at home this week before a massive game at SDSU on November 15th. SDSU (#2 last week) SDSU stays in the number 2 spot this week but has a real claim that they should be number 1 on the list. Pac12 Power Rankings After Week 7

There is a lot of movement especially in the top half of this week's power rankings. Boise State moves back into the number 1 spot for the first time since the preseason power rankings. Colorado State also gets itself out of the number 7 spot with a big win over Fresno State.  Boise State (#2 last week) Boise State moves back into the number 1 spot after starting the season in the number 1 spot. Boise State has earned the spot back after beating New Mexico 41-25. Boise State has a big time clash with UNLV for what will likely determine who will host the Mountain West championship game.  SDSU (#4 last week) SDSU moves into the number 2 spot after another dominant win this week. SDSU beat Nevada 44-10. SDSU looks poised to make a serious run at a Mountain West title. SDSU will have the week off before they play Fresno State next week. Sean Lewis has done a lot to turn around the program and it would be massive for the future Pac12 to have a real presence in Southern California....
